What is Clinical Services?
The purpose of Clinical Services is to enhance the quality and effectiveness of DSC treatment programs. Clinical Services are provided by a team of consultants and include assessment, training, consultation, and direct service to consumers and staff on an as needed basis. These services include expertise in occupational therapy, speech therapy, nursing, psychiatry, psychology, and clinical social work.
Who may be served?
DSC consumers of family members of a DSC consumer may be eligible for clinical services. Any Champaign of Ford County resident with a developmental disability may be eligible for DSC services.
What services are available?
Clinical Services provides assessment and consultation in the following areas:
- Occupational Therapy, including assessment, development of materials, updates, and staff training
- Speech Therapy, including assessment, program development, and staff training
- Nursing, including consultation, direct service, and linkage by full-time nursing staff
- Psychiatry, including initial consultation and ongoing medication reviews
- Psychology, including behavior consultation, assessment, and staff training through in-services
- Social Work, including individual and group counseling
Respite
The Respite Program is designed to provide short-term care for individuals with developmental disabilities. Families are eligible for up to 180 hours of respite care per fiscal year (dependent upon availability of respite providers and funding). These hours can be used in times of crisis, planned vacations or other situations where short-term care is needed. Services are provided in the home of the individual or the respite provider's home.
