DSC’s Residential Services provides supports and services in a community setting, enabling individuals with developmental disabilities to live in the most normal, least restrictive environment. Levels of support range from 2-3 hours per week to 24 hours per day, and individual apartments to group settings. In all settings, individuals are provided support and skill training necessary to become as independent and self-sufficient as possible. CILA (Community Integrated Living Arrangement) DSC’s CILA Program provides 24-hour support to 6-8 individuals in a family style setting. Services are tailored to meet each person’s needs and aspirations. Lincolnshire CILA is a 6 bed group home located in one of Champaign's fine residential neighborhoods. CU Independence Apartments Tenants of C-U Independence Apartments, a 24-unit security building, receive one on one support and services that enable them to live safely in their own apartment. The amount of support, generally 2-4 hours per week, varies according to individual needs. A Building Manager is also available for emergencies between the hours of 10:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m. Tenant rents are subsidized by HUD and calculated based on the individual’s income. The CU Independence Apartments consist of 24 one bedroom apartments. Apartment Services Program The Apartment Services Program provides one on one support and training to individuals with developmental disabilities who live in a community-setting, such as their own apartment. Individuals in this program generally receive 1-3 hours of support per week. Respite The Respite Program is designed to provide short-term care for individuals with developmental disabilities. Families are eligible for up to 180 hours of respite care per fiscal year (dependent upon availability of respite providers and funding). These hours can be used in times of crisis, planned vacations or other situations where short-term care is needed. Services are provided in the home of the individual or the respite provider's home.
