2022 Special Recognition Award - Brad Allen

Congratulations Brad Allen!!

DSC is thankful for Brad Allen and honored to present him with a Special Recognition Award.

Brad Allen is a private practice counselor through the DSC Clinical Services Program. He began working in the developmental disability community in 1979. Brad spent many years working at DSC in a variety of different programs and positions, and even started a men’s counseling group.

Brad is always available and willing to go above and beyond to assist individuals and their families. He meets people where they are most comfortable and is accessible to them outside of typical business hours, especially if they are in crisis. He is honest and ethical and most importantly, respectful of all the individuals he supports. Brad has a unique combination of skills that often other therapists do not possess, because they did not have the benefit of working within DSC and really learning about our services, as well as the unique needs of someone with a developmental disability.

A parent had this to say, “The benefits of Brad’s involvement in my son’s life have been immense! He regularly provides advice and support to me, as well as counseling with my son. He makes himself available well beyond any reasonable expectation and goes out of his way to provide therapy in whatever way a situation presents itself. Brad’s support has been life changing for us. I come away from our conversations with a better understanding of my son’s challenges and increased confidence in my parenting, all of which benefits my son too. My son is slower to open up but has developed a relationship with Brad that has helped him manage his emotions in different, more positive ways. Brad has been the constant that has helped my son trust someone.”

There is no denying the impact Brad has had on the individuals he sees for counseling. He has made a lasting impact on so many at DSC and that impact will carry on for years to come. Thank you, Brad, for your many years of dedicated service to DSC and the developmental disability community! We are forever grateful and appreciate all you’ve done to better the lives of those we support.
