Autism Awareness Month

April is Autism Awareness Month. Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a complex developmental disability. In the United States, approximately 1 in 45 adults and 1 in 36 children have autism.

DSC offers a variety of services to support children and adults with autism. Support for adults with autism includes opportunities to participate in self-advocacy, recreational activities, social events, educational groups, and volunteering, as well as assisting with career goals and living independently in the community.

DSC supports for children with autism and their families includes Developmental Therapy, Speech Therapy, play groups, parent support groups, and PLAY Project (Play and Language for Autistic Youngsters).

For more information, please contact Lori Wachtel, DSC Intake Specialist, at lwachtel@dsc-illinois.org or (217) 356-9176.Together, let's create a kinder, more inclusive, and more connected world, especially for people with autism.
