Mission Monday: Spirit of DSC Award

In celebration of our 30th year of the Tree of Hope Campaign, we are thrilled to announce a new recognition award, the Spirit of DSC Award. This award will be presented to someone who embodies DSC’s mission—to support people in living rich and meaningful lives. This person will also have a lifelong passion for serving the developmental disabilities community.

The inaugural Spirit of DSC Award was presented to longtime DSC CEO, Dale Morrissey, for his commitment and dedication to DSC’s mission.

Dale started at DSC in March of 1979. He was the CEO for most of his 40 plus years at DSC. He was instrumental in the establishment of the Champaign County Developmental Disabilities Board in 2005. Dale started and built upon many DSC programs that are still in existence today. The Tree of Hope is among one of these efforts. In 1994, DSC launched the first Tree of Hope Campaign with a goal to raise $40,000 and high hopes it would increase awareness of DSC and continue to grow and touch more people each year. The campaign has done just that and so much more. Prior to this year’s Tree of Hope, the campaign has raised more than $3.1 million dollars!

Thank you, Dale, for your dedication and commitment to DSC and our community!
